Mindanaoherald | Davao Oriental is one of the ten wealthiest provinces in Mindanao | DAVAO CITY – Seventh among the ten wealthiest provinces of Mindanao is Davao Oriental.
The provincial government’s information office announced on Monday that Davao Oriental’s income for 2023 is PHP408 million in a Facebook post.
Recognition was granted pursuant to the 2023 Locally Sourced Income of Local Government Units report by the Bureau of Local Government Finance.
Gov. Niño Uy stated that the citation was indicative of their economic endeavors and effective governance. He stated, “Such recognition is not only an honor but also an inspiration for the community to persist in their efforts to work together and achieve a more prosperous future.”
Bukidnon was the most prosperous province, with a total of PHP1.034 billion. Davao de Oro, South Cotabato, and North Cotabato followed, each with PHP838 million, PHP717 million, and PHP716 million, respectively.
Misamis Oriental received PHP573 million in revenue last year, Lanao del Norte received PHP532 million, Agusan del Sur received PHP385 million, Davao del Norte received PHP326 million, and Davao del Sur received PHP315 million. These counties are also included in the list.
Uy cited the local sector’s rise in taxes and other revenues as crucial factors for Davao Oriental’s inclusion in the list. This has resulted in increased funding for development projects.
The province’s priority programs, according to him, are still focused on infrastructure, education, health, and tourism.
“The provincial government is currently in the process of developing new initiatives to enhance the quality of life for its residents.” “The governor stated that the measures include investment in sustainable development, technology, and agriculture.” (via PNA)
