MindanaoHerald | R11 daily wage increase for the first time, starting on March 6 | DAVAO CITY – The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB-11) said Tuesday that the new daily wage increase of PHP38 for minimum wage workers in Davao Region will begin on March 6.

The RTWPB-11 said in a statement that the first of the two sets of pay increases under pay Order No. RBXI-22 would start on March 6 and would be PHP19 per day.

If you work in a field other than agriculture, your new minimum wage will be PHP462 per day. If you work in agriculture, your new minimum wage will be PHP457 per day.

The new minimum pay for workers in the non-agriculture sector will be PHP481 per day, and for workers in the agriculture sector it will be PHP476 per day. The second installment, which is PHP19 per day, will start on September 1, 2018.

The RTWPB–11 also approved a wage raise for domestic workers under Wage Order No. RBXI-DW-03. The new wage will start on March 6.

The new minimum wage rates will be PHP6,000 per month for domestic workers in chartered towns and first-class municipalities and PHP5,000 per month for domestic workers in other municipalities. The current monthly minimum wage rate across the region is PHP4,500.

Randolf Pensoy, who is the regional director of the Department of Labor and Employment and also chairs RTWPB–11, said that the new pay raises are based on the consumer price index and the poverty threshold data from the Philippine Statistics Authority, which are both indicators of the region’s current socioeconomic situation.

After all the installments are paid out, the minimum wage in the Davao Region will go from PHP476 to PHP481. This will protect more than 100,000 minimum wage workers in private businesses and almost 65,000 domestic workers in the region, he said. (via PNA)
