MindanaoHerald | “Araw ng Dabaw” will be a busy day for the city government | DAVAO CITY – This year’s 87th Araw ng Dabaw (Davao Day) celebration will begin on March 1. The city government will send artists to all districts.
There will be a Thanksgiving Mass, a grand party called Pasiugdang Pagsaulog, and a concert called Konsierto Dabawenyo at the opening ceremony, according to Jennifer Romero, who is in charge of the City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO).
“During the Konsierto, there will be performances by famous people. We have planned a new event that will bring the Araw ng Dabaw to all three districts in the city,” Romero said in an interview on Tuesday, referring to the “Kalingawan sa Distrito,” which is a new part of the official events.
She also said, “We will bring performers, local performers from Davao, to the districts so that Dabawenyos in the area can join the celebration. We know that it’s not always easy for everyone to get to downtown Davao in time for the Araw ng Dabaw activities.”
The CTOO also brought back “Dabawenyo Ako (I’m a Davaoeño)” from March 4 to 15. This is a school-based activity that aims to teach kids about Davao’s past.
After the event, on March 15 and 16, everyone is welcome to join the Davao Heritage Walk.
There will be a talent show on March 5 and a preliminary battle on March 9. On March 15, the Mutya ng Dabaw pageant coronation will take place.
The Parada Dabawenyo (grand parade), which will happen on March 17, will be the event’s high point.
Romero said, “The parade would go the same way as the last party, but it would be shorter.”
At San Pedro Square on parade day, there will also be a street party (Hugyaw Dabaw) and a music show. (via PNA)
