Over 10,000 people in Caraga get TUPAD pay, and 169 people looking for work are hired

Mindanaoherald | Over 10,000 people in Caraga get TUPAD pay, and 169 people looking for work are hired | BUTUAN CITY – At the Kalayaan Jobs Fair on Wednesday, which was also the 126th celebration of Independence Day, at least 169 of the 530 people looking for work were hired right away.
On Thursday, the Department of Labor and Employment in the Caraga Region (DOLE-13) said that 57 companies from around the world and the Philippines offered more than 4,000 jobs during the event.
“The jobs fair, which brought unemployed people from Butuan City and nearby towns closer to job opportunities, was the main event of the celebration.” “A 31.89 percent placement rate was achieved,” DOLE-13 said in a release.
Cherrylyn Dacera from Barangay Los Angeles was hired during the event. She thanked the government for giving them chances to get good jobs.
I really appreciate the DOLE’s help with finding work. “I’m thankful for this chance to be hired right away during the activity,” Dacera, who is 27 years old, said.
The same day, DOLE said that a total of PHP52 million was paid out to 10,831 people who had done community service through the Tulong Panghanapbuhay para sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) program. This was part of a number of payout activities that took place across the region.
And it said that as part of the Integrated Livelihood Program, 493 groups were given starting kits worth PHP14 million to help them start their own businesses.
Career Fair in Davao
The DOLE-11 said that 84 job seekers who went to the Kalayaan Job Fair in the Davao area on Wednesday were also hired right away.
“Thank you so much to our partners and employers for making the job fair a huge success,” the group wrote on Facebook on Thursday.
Jason Balais, the assistant regional director for DOLE-11, said in a statement that 84 of the people hired right away were qualified to work in the United States and one was qualified to work abroad.
There were 1,348 people looking for work at the job fair, and 211 were almost hired.
From those almost hired, 145 are for jobs in the United States and 66 are for jobs abroad. (via PNA)
