Mindanaoherald | An emergency financial transfer of P1.5 billion is provided to three provinces in Davao | DAVAO CITY – According to a regional official of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-11), three provinces in the Davao Region received an emergency cash transfer (ECT) valued at PHP1.5 billion from the government on Tuesday.

DSWD Assistant Regional Director for Operations Dahlia Padillo stated that the agency disbursed the sum to 182,867 beneficiaries in Davao del Norte, Davao de Oro, and Davao Oriental during the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas.

“The objective of this financial assistance is to target the shear line and trough of a low-pressure area.” “No families have been reported affected in Davao del Sur and Davao Occidental,” Padillo stated.

The ECT is an adaptive strategy for bridging the gaps in immediate disaster relief, humanitarian response, and early recovery support, with financial aid per family valued at PHP9,960.

The program also provides direct government financial assistance to families impacted by disasters in regions that are currently experiencing a state of calamity.

Padillo stated that DSWD-11 has established a target of 197,878 beneficiaries out of the 609,029 total target, with a total of PHP1.7 million to be distributed among the three provinces, now that the downloaded funds are available.

“The unclaimed amount is 15,011, and the remaining amount to be disbursed is PHP129.93 million.” She stated that the distribution is currently underway and that the funds were transferred in tranches. She also stated that the process will persist this month until all 609,029 beneficiaries have been accommodated.

Furthermore, in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, she stated that DSWD-11 also administered ECT to employees at various tourism destinations in the three provinces. (via PNA)
