MindanaoHerald | NorMin’s DICT launches an online learning tool in Bisaya | CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Norther Mindanao’s DIT-10 started the Localized Accessible Knowledge and Inclusive Platform (Lakip) online course program here on Tuesday.
The relationship with Coursebank, the biggest provider of MOOCs in the Philippines, director of DICT-10 Sittie Rahma Alawi said that the “Lakip” platform was made possible by that partnership.
Our teachers from the Department of Education (DepEd) who translated the classes were also very helpful. “They’re necessary for this program to work,” she said.
A learning management system called “Lakip,” which comes from the Bisaya (Visayan) word for “inclusive,” aims to offer a wide range of classes that have been carefully translated into the language.
The Higaonon indigenous village in Barangay Dansolihon is the first group to get help from the program, according to Alawi.
“In July (2023), the indigenous community in Barangay Dansolihon were our pilot users of Lakip,” she talked about.
As the digital consultant for the local government here, Presidential sister Aimee R. Marcos said that this was one of the ideas she had for working together with DICT and the city government to help people learn the basics of technology and literacy in their own languages.
Marcos said the program could be expanded to other places in Mindanao and Visayas after it starts in the city. (via PNA)
