MindanaoHerald | PhilHealth and NorMin agencies agree on perks for workers | CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – For the benefits of their contract workers, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation in Northern Mindanao (PhilHealth-10) and other regional government departments signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on Tuesday.

The MOA will be put into place through the group enrollment program, which is run by PhilHealth-10 Vice President Delio Aceron II. This program lets job order (JO) or casual workers be covered by the state health insurer and enjoy the same perks as regular employees.

“These workers were also not exempt from getting sick and hospitalized, and we all know that their absence can affect some functions of the agencies,” he mentioned.

They signed the MOA together with the Philippine Ports Authority-Misamis Oriental and the Department of Trade and Industry-10.

MOA will also give job chances to JOs and contract of service (COS) workers in its 20 attached agencies and bureaus, said Carlene Collado, director of DA-10.

“As the head of the regional management committee, I will encourage them to also join the DA regional office in partnering with PhilHealth in giving protection to their JOs and COS workers,” he told us.

As PhilHealth-10 celebrated its 29th anniversary, the MOA signing was a part of the festivities. (via PNA)
