MindanaoHerald | Barnm gives free birth records to 100 kids | COTABATO CITY – In the coastal town of Datu Blah Sinsuat in Maguindanao del Norte, the Ministry of Social Services and Development gave out free papers of live birth to at least 100 children. These were given out by the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MSSD-BARMM).

Authorities from MSSD-BARMM said in a statement that the free live birth registration program for a month is in line with the celebration of Children’s Month in November.

“Having a certificate of live birth as proof of who they are is one of the basic rights of Filipino children,” Jajurie said, adding that it is also needed to get government services like health care, schooling, social programs, and more.

On Thursday, birth certificates were given out at the same time as a joint outreach event by several BARMM ministries.

Jajurie said that the people who got the certificates also got school bags and materials, water bottles, umbrellas, and food.

At the event, Jajurie told the parents of the children, most of whom are from the Indigenous Peoples group, how important birth papers are.

She also said that there would be free birth records in the provinces of Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Sur, Basilan, Tawi-Tawi, Sulu, Cotabato City, and the 63-village BARMM Special Geographic Area in North Cotabato.

Our celebration for BARMM Children’s Month this year is based on the theme “Isulong Kalinga, Kalusugan, at Karapatan ng Batang Bangsamoro.” (via PNA)
