MindanaoHerald | Approval for the P208-M DavNor farm-to-market project | DAVAO CITY – After getting confirmation that their proposed subproject could get funds through the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) Scale-Up program, the provincial government of Davao del Norte was given the go-ahead to start a road project worth PHP208.8 million.
As part of the plan, the Km.15 Kipalili-New Loon farm-to-market road (FMR) will be fixed up and given a bridge in San Isidro town.
Provincial Administrator Josie Jean Rabanoz said that the PRDP has not only helped farmers in rural areas by investing in them, but it has also taught the province important lessons and best practices for putting their projects into action.
“For example, the FMRs gave farmers access to markets, cut down on travel time and costs, and kept post-harvest losses to a minimum,” Rabanoz said in a statement Thursday.
In addition, Rabanoz said that FMR projects have helped farming communities in remote places make more money and “encouraged farmers to expand their production areas.”
She said that once they got the go-ahead, the provincial project management and execution unit could start buying things to fix up the project. (via PNA)
