MindanaoHerald | An increasing number of airlines are interested in operating daily flights to the Davao Region | DAVAO CITY – The Department of Tourism in Davao Region (DOT-11) announced on Tuesday that the region experienced a total of 749,647 visitor arrivals in the first quarter of this year.
DOT-11 Director Tanya Rabat-Tan stated during the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas forum in this location that they anticipate an increase in arrivals due to the international airline linkages that have indicated their interest in operating flights in the region.
“A significant number of individuals have expressed their intention and strategy.” Tan stated, “We must exert more effort to establish them.”
Tan stated that Qatar Airways has transitioned from operating daily flights directly from Doha to operating three times per week.
Scoot Airlines and Xiamen Airlines of China operate daily flights that originate in Singapore.
“In a world where time is of the essence, it is essential to ensure that travel is seamless,” Tan stated.
The Philippines exceeded its projected objective of 4.8 million international visitors by welcoming 5.4 million last year.
Tan emphasized that this underscored the increasing global fascination with the Philippines as a travel destination.
“We can address one of the current gaps in our country’s tourism, which is connectivity, through the digitalization of tourist services, affordable travel costs, and improved transportation networks,” she stated. (via PNA)
