10,000 security guards will keep the Kadayawan event safe

MindanaoHerald | 10,000 security guards will keep the Kadayawan event safe | DAVAO CITY – An official from the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) said Thursday that at least 10,000 people from the local security cluster will be sent to the big Kadayawan holiday events this weekend.
Col. Alberto Lupaz, who is in charge of the DCPO, told the press that on the day of the big celebrations, the security detail will be made up of uniformed members of the DCPO, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the city’s security cluster, and force multipliers.
On August 19 and 20, the Indak-Indak sa Kadayawan and Pamulak sa Kadayawan events are expected to draw tens of thousands of people to the city and other places.
Because the Indak-indak is now happening in the afternoon, the security rules have been changed. These changes will stay in place until the event ends at night.
“The Kadayawan events will begin at 2 p.m., so we expect the main street in Davao City to be busy until late at night,” said Lupaz.
He said that they have taken steps to be more aware, such as doubling the number of security assets like K9 units to make it easier to keep an eye on things at night.
“All security guards will carry flashlights to make it easier to see and check at night. “Those who want to take part will still have to follow the usual rules,” he said.
Backpacks, water bottles that aren’t see-through, and laser lights will not be allowed near the event site.
Lupaz said that people who break the rules will be asked to give up their things or go home.(via PNA)
