MindanaoHerald | Prizes for “Indak-indak” sa Kadayawan in Davao City are worth P5.6 million | DAVAO CITY – The city government here has set up prizes worth a total of PHP5.6 million for the “Indak-indak sa Kadayawan” event on August 19.

Harold Quibete, who is in charge of organising the “Indak-indak” game, told the press on Wednesday that there will be two categories: open and Davao school-based.

“The grand winners in both categories will get PHP1 million each, and there are also special prizes,” he said.

Quibete said that the number of teams grew for at least three types of competition: Indak-indak sa Kadayawan, the Pamulak sa Kadayawan, and the Hudyaka sa Kadayawan.

In the school-based category of Indak-indak in Davao, there will be a total of six contingents, and 13 will compete in the open category.

“The city has culturally-based events, and we’re glad that people from outside Davao will join this year. “Every year, we wanted to give a better show,” he said.

Indak-Indak sa Kadayawan is a cultural street dancing event that is a big part of the Kadayawan Festival. It shows a rich tapestry of local cultures.

The Pamulak sa Kadayawan (floral float parade), one of the final highlights of the annual event, will also have three categories: dako (big), gamay (small), and corporate or non-competing floats.

Quibete said that nine people signed up for the dako category, 13 for the gamay category, and 14 for corporate or other floats that were not racing.

“The winner of the dako category will get PHP800,000, and the winner of the gamay category will get PHP600,000,” he added.

Quibete said that the winner of Hudyaka sa Kadayawan will get PHP400,000.(via PNA)
