MindanaoHerald | The NoCot provincial government gives an extra P6M to 1,000 students | KIDAPAWAN CITY, North Cotabato – A PHP6-million allowance grant was given by the provincial government to at least 1,000 college students after a deal was signed with the students at the provincial gymnasium on Monday.
Each scholar was given PHP6,000, which they can use for school costs like tuition and other needs.
In her second year, Rhever Jude Ansing is studying for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) in Kabacan town. She said that the grant has helped her pay for important school costs.
“I’m so glad I was chosen to be a part of this year’s group of scholars.” Ansing said, “I want to thank the provincial government for helping students who are having trouble with money, like me, who is a nursing student with a lot of bills to pay.”
Another student from the Cotabato Medical Foundation College Inc. in Midsayap town, Emy Pacullo, thinks that the program is great for people like her “who want to study but are having a hard time pursuing school due to financial constraints.”
At the same time, Dr. Gloria Mudanza, a member of the Provincial Advisory Council (PAC), urged the students to do their best and use the help to reach their goals.
For her part, Governor Emmylou Mendoza said that scholarship grants would be given equally to all students who want to go to college, even those who live in the province’s most remote towns. (via PNA)
