MindanaoHerald | Housing programmes in Cagayan de Oro and the DHSUD are linked | CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – With the help of the national government’s “Pambansang Pabahay Para Sa Pilipino” (4PH), the local government will make its housing projects more efficient.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the head of the City Housing and Urban Development Department, lawyer Sam Rollo, said that the city government and the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) are in the process of negotiating the 4PH plan.

He said, “They want to put the programme into action in the city to meet the government’s goal of building one million homes a year, or six million in six years.”

Rollo said that local governments only need to give a list of people who will benefit from the programme. DHSUD will buy land, develop it, and build the housing units.

In July, during his second State of the Nation Address, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. said that Executive Order No. 34 would be signed. This would create the 4PH programme, which aims to help the 6.5 million poor families who still don’t have a place to live.

Rollo didn’t say how many people in the city will get help from the 4PH programme, but he did say that the new home will be a medium-rise building.

“One of the city’s properties in Sitio Pamalihi, Barangay Pagatpat, has already been developed as land, and we’re looking at it as a place to build single-family homes,” he said.

Even before the 4PH was announced, about 30,000 of the 50,102 illegal settler families in the city had already signed up for a programme to help them get a place to live.

Under the 4PH programme, the DHSUD said that people who get units will pay between PHP3,500 and PHP4,000 per month. (via PNA)
