MindanaoHerald | CDO opens quick response hub for P20-M | CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – A PHP20 million quick response centre for law enforcement and local government departments was inaugurated by the city administration here on Friday.
The “Operation Kahusay ug Kalinaw” (OKK) facility will assist individuals in need of the local government’s quick response services, particularly the elderly and the young, according to Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Rolando Uy.
“To make it easier for both the young and the elderly to reach the OKK centre, we lowered it. As part of phase 4 of the Divisoria Redevelopment, we will add more, the mayor promised.
Uy was speaking of the initiative Lunhaw’s Divisoria redevelopment phase, a joint initiative between the city government and Habitat Philippines’ Building Climate Resilience via Urban Plans and Designs.
The mayor said that closed-circuit video cameras would be erected to increase security in Divisoria while piped-in music would be set up to provide tourists with entertainment.
The OKK centre will also house the City Social Welfare and Development Office, the Cagayan de Oro Bureau of Fire Protection, and the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Department in addition to the Police Precinct 1 of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO).
Uy stated that local responders will receive training on disaster preparedness from the Office of Civil Defense-Northern Mindanao.

In the meantime, Uy said that as a safety measure, the National Telecommunications Commission had previously granted COCPO’s request to block mobile phone signals while the festival’s final big activities were being held here.
The Miss Cagayan de Oro pageant night on August 26, the civic-military parade, float competition and street dancing on August 27, and the religious and fluvial processions on the feast day on August 28 are all affected activities. The rhythmic field demonstration on Friday is also affected.
Uy made a public apology for whatever inconvenience the signal closure may have caused.(via PNA)
