MindanaoHerald | Two Caraga provinces have plans for P846 million worth of road work | BUTUAN CITY – There are already plans for two farm-to-market road (FMR) projects in two provinces in the Caraga area. These projects will help about 7,357 farming families.
Since the Joint Technical Review and Subproject Appraisal and Review have been finished in the past two weeks, the Philippine Rural Development Programme (PRDP) of the Department of Agriculture-13 (DA-Caraga) is hopeful that the FMR projects in two municipalities in Dinagat Islands and three municipalities and one city in Agusan del Sur will be put into action this year.
As part of the activities, the suggested sites were actually checked out, the number of people who would benefit was confirmed, and other technical requirements were met.
Rene Morales, the head of the Regional Project Coordination Office of the DA-PRDP in the region, said in a phone chat on Saturday that a review of compliance is already being done at the central office.
He said that all of the FMR projects would cost PHP846.64 million and be 31.75 km long.
He also said that the memorandums of understanding signed on August 15 have already been followed by the local governments of the two provinces.
In the Dinagat Islands, the FMR will connect the towns of Basilisa and Libjo. It will be 8.67 km long and cost a total of PHP332,64 million.
The two FMR projects in Agusan del Sur will be built in Bayugan City and the town of Esperanza, with a length of 9.18 km and a cost of PHP188.9 million; and in the municipalities of La Paz and Loreto, with a length of 13.9 km and a cost of PHP325.09 million.
“The proposed FMR in Dinagat will directly help about 3,659 farming households, and the two projects in Agusan del Sur will also help about 3,698 farming households,” Morales said.
The area PRDP is waiting for feedback on the central office’s review of compliance.
“If there are technology problems that need to be fixed, we will revalidate it on the ground and send the results back to the central office. “Once all the details are worked out, the notice to proceed will be issued. This will also mean that the project will begin to be put into action,” Morales said.(via PNA)
