MindanaoHerald | Projects to build roads on P64-B will bring peace and economic security to Caraga | BUTUAN CITY – An official said Thursday that the Department of Public Work and Highways in the Caraga Region (DPWH-13) has set as goals at least five important road projects for this year.
In an interview, Pol Delos Santos, Regional Director of DPWH-13, said that the road projects cover a total of 418.963 kilometers and cost a total of PHP64.311 billion.
The Daang Maharlika Road goes from Barangay Lipata in Surigao City to Davao Region. Other projects include the Butuan City-Agusan del Norte Logistical Highway, the East-West Lateral Road that connects Agusan del Sur to Bukidnon, the Surigao del Norte-Agusan del Norte West Coastal Road, and the Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte-Lanuza, Surigao del Sur Road.
“All of these jobs have been bid on by qualified contractors, since the first round of funding for this year has already been given out.” “Work on the building is already underway,” Delos Santos said.
A DPWH-13 official said that the projects, which include widening, fixing, and rehabilitating roads, have been paid with PHP13.3 billion so far this year and will last for several years.
“These road projects are the game changers in the peace and economic stability of the Caraga Region,” Delos Santos said. “They will make it easier for people to get to public facilities, basic services, and more traffic.”
He also said that the projects would encourage farmers in the area to work more land and help the growth of trade, industry, and agriculture. (via PNA)
