‘Fireworks Olympics’ and exhibition games are being planned by the CDO

MindanaoHerald | ‘Fireworks Olympics’ and exhibition games are being planned by the CDO | CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – A representative said on Monday that events like the lighting of the Christmas tree every year, the “Fireworks Olympics,” and a volleyball practice match are all set to end this year.
The Fireworks Olympics will be put on by Mayor Rolando Uy’s office to make the Christmas party more fun. The event is open to everyone.
“(In sponsoring this activity) we want to bring some Christmas cheer to our constituents as they celebrate (the holiday season),” he explained.
The mayor said that anyone interested in the game, even from outside the city, can join the Fireworks Olympics, but not all the details have been made public yet.
Uy said that before Christmas, his office will also pay for four top Philippine Volleyball League (PVL) women’s teams to play in a round of practice matches.
He said that Creamline, PLDT, and the other three teams would be playing at the Aquilino Pimentel Jr. International Convention Center.
The PVL teams were some of the most popular events at the city’s yearly fiesta last August.
According to Uy, he will work to bring a Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) game to the city in January of next year.
That game will also take place at the Aquilino Pimentel Jr. International Convention Center and will be a normal season PBA game between Ginebra and another PBA team.
To bring more tourists to the city, he said, more big events will happen here in the future. (via PNA)
