MindanaoHerald | Farm-to-market road worth P1.1 million was handed over to Sarangani people | KORONADAL CITY – An official stated on Thursday that a PHP1.1 million farm-to-market road (FMR) project financed by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 12 (Soccsksargen) is anticipated to help about 130 people in a remote village in Glan town, Sarangani province.

The FMR, which costs PHP1,152,855, according to DSWD-12 Director Loreto Cabaya, benefits not only houses in Barangay Taluya but also people living nearby. Officials from Taluya village received it on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Cabaya, the 130 linear metre road project is a component of the government’s disaster response initiatives under the Disaster Response Operations Modality for Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS).

The municipal government of Glan additionally contributed PHP23,500 as a match to the project.

The road concreting project includes 131 actual household beneficiaries in the area alone, according to KALAHI-CIDSS data.

A paved road, according to Cabaya, would make it simpler for farmers and vegetable growers to get their produce to markets and would make it simpler for students to get to school.

Additionally, he added, it will give health officials the ability to respond to community needs. (via PNA)
